Update: Merlon Brando was adopted in July, 2007, and is now known as Joey. We received the following update in Janary, 2009: "We moved to Oregon and you can see how much Joey loves the beach - he just adores playing in the ocean. The cat is Ramona who, unfortunately, died a couple of months ago, but they were so happy together. Joey must have known that she was ill - he took good care of her."
